Joint Investigation in Assault Case

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. July 28, 2005   The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office and the City of Woodstock Police Department are currently working a joint investigation of an assault that was dispatched this morning. At approximately 9:30 a.m. The City of Woodstock Police Department responded to the back parking area of the Kohl’s parking lot located on Highway 92 regarding a female found assaulted next to her vehicle. Because of statements the victim made of where the assault could have possibly occurred, the Woodstock Police Department asked for the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office to conduct a joint investigation into the incident.

A witness saw the red pickup truck with the female lying next to it parked in the back parking lot this morning and immediately called 911. The female victim has been taken to a local hospital to receive medical treatment and to speak with investigators. The victim gave an initial statement of two male Hispanic perpetrators. The first perpetrator was wearing a blue tee shirt. The second perpetrator was wearing a green tee shirt, blue jeans and carrying a small black pistol.
