Press Release
Death Investigation

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. August 26, 2005  Two males were riding their 4-wheelers in a wooded area located at the end of Spriggs Trail off located off of Yellow Creek Road when they came across remains of a human body. The males called Cherokee County Communications at approximately 7:00pm on August 25, 2005, which is the time they came across the body. The area is a heavily wooded area, which made it difficult initially for detectives to get to the location of the body. Local residence of the area assisted the Sheriff’s Office by supplying many different types of all terrain vehicles to assist them in getting to the area where the body was found. The Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit has setup an initial crime scene area, but because of the density of the woods and the location, the investigation has terminated for the night. Detectives will begin the processing of the crime scene this morning at approximately 9:00am.
