Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. March 12, 2006 On March 12, 2006, The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office responded to Shadowood Mobile Home Park in reference to a male exposing himself to children. Juvenile victims told their parents a male living in the neighborhood was touching himself improperly in front of his trailer window. Other victims came forward with allegations of Stevens masturbating in front of his residence inside his van. Investigators executed a search warrant on the suspect’s residence and obtained enough evidence to secure warrants for three counts of child molestation against Mark Duane Stevens, 48 years old of Woodstock, Ga. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office received information Stevens may have fled to Michigan and made contact with the Lansing Police Department with the suspect information. The Lansing Police Department was able to locate Stevens later that evening and arrested him with no incident. Stevens is awaiting extradition to Cherokee County.
