Acworth, Cherokee County, Ga. May 22, 2006 On March 19, 2006 at approximately 7:00 p.m. the body of Leonardo DeKoven Ervin, 42 years of age was found in a wooded area near Wade Green Road and Highway 92. Evidence at the scene of the investigation indicated Ervin’s death had occurred elsewhere. Through further investigation, Detectives learned Ervin’s death occurred at a residence located on Cascade Drive in Cherokee County. The cause and manner of Ervin’s death still awaits autopsy and toxicology reports.
Investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of: Mark Thompson, 44 years of age, Acworth; Ga, Molly Ryan, 42 years of age, Cobb County, Ga and Thomas Hewey Smith, 55 years old, Woodstock, Ga. All three are charged with: Concealing a Death; Giving False Statements; Improper Removal of a Body; Tampering with Evidence and cocaine possession. All suspects are being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $18,160.00. More charges are likely to be taken in relation to the death of Ervin.
