Sheriff’s Office Donates Technology to the Board of Education

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. June 28, 2006   The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office recently donated 13 VHF mobile radios to the Cherokee County Board of Education for use by their School Resource Officers. The radios will be used by sworn officers for emergency and mutual aid situations allowing all law enforcement personnel the ability to operate on the same radio frequencies during a time of emergency. Until now, campus Resource Officers were unable to communicate with the Cherokee 911 Center and other law enforcement agencies except by direct connect Nextel or by phone. Sheriff Roger Garrison feels this is a positive step because, "law enforcement agencies that are willing to be leaders and protectors in the field use the best technology and equipment the market has to offer. It provides a better measure in our abilities to serve the community."
