Press Release
Inmate Located and In Custody

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. July 1, 2006   At approximately 10:30 am, Inmate Keith Price, 30 years of age of Woodstock, Ga escaped from the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office asked for assistance from the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division, The Department of Corrections, Cherokee SWAT Team and the Cherokee K-9 Unit. Price’s physical descriptions were also given out to area jurisdictions in attempts to locate him. Cherokee County 911 received information at 11:59 am that Price was seen on Barrett Parkway in boxers, tee-shirt and jail issued flip flops. Cobb County Police responded to the location and were able to place Price into custody without incident. Price was taken to Kennestone Hosptial for injuries he received in his escape attempt.

It appears through initial investigation Price was able to pry back wire mesh in a window area and was able to escape through the barb-wire fence. The Sheriff’s Office is also looking into Price possibly taking a motor vehicle from Holly Springs, which allowed him to get to Cobb County. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident and its Adult Detention policies.
