Fourth of July Traffic Enforcement

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. July 5, 2006   On Friday June 30, 2006 the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office kicked off its annual Fourth of July Holiday traffic enforcement detail. The purpose of the traffic detail is to establish a concentrated patrol for the July 4th holiday. This holiday is best known for motorist traveling at high rates of speed and driving under the influence of alcohol. The detail ended Sunday, July 2, 2006 with a total of 53 physical arrests. Seventeen of the arrests made were for the offense of Driving Under the Influence. Thirty-nine of the arrests were for non-drug related charges with six of the arrests were related to drug activity. A total of 94 traffic stops were made with 95 citations and 9 warnings issued.
