Arrest in Drug Investigation

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. July 24, 2006   On Monday, July 17th, the Georgia State Patrol conducted a vehicle stop in Cobb County. The vehicle was stopped for a window tint violation and following too closely. The Trooper searched the vehicle and found twenty pounds of Marijuana, $3000 in cash, and an amount of Cocaine. The black male driver was identified as Kevin Leroy Smith, 03/02/1963, of Woodstock. Smith is on parole for two prior Cocaine Charges. Smith has a 4th Amendment waiver as part of his parole status.

The Georgia State Patrol contacted the Drug Enforcement Agency (D.E.A.) and Smith’s state parole officer. Parole then contacted the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad to assist with a 4th amendment search of Smith’s residence located at 504 Ridgeview Drive, Woodstock.

The search uncovered eighty five pounds of Marijuana which carries a street value of $102,000. as well as $29,000 cash.

Smith is being held at the Cobb County Jail on a Felony Trafficking Marijuana Charge, as well as a Felony Possession of Cocaine charge.

The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is also charging Smith with Trafficking Marijuana in Cherokee County.
