Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. September 25, 2006. At approximately 5:00 pm , Detectives from the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office received information of skeletal remains located in the woods off of Upper Sweetwater Trail near Woodall Road , which is located in the northwest area of Cherokee County . The Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Division was able to recover the remains in a heavily wooded area and begin an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) is assisting the Sheriff’s Office in the identification of the skeletal remains.
