Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. October 10, 2006 At approximately 1:00 am, D/S Stamper and D/S Pelletier from the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Bells Ferry Road at the intersection of Eagle drive. The vehicle was leaving East Gate Mobile Home Park, located on Bells Ferry, at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned west onto Eagle Drive and crossed over the center line, which placed the vehicle in the oncoming lane of traffic. The driver exited the vehicle and fled into the surrounding wood line. D/S Downey and K-9 Rico responded to the wooded area where they quickly recovered the male driver and placed him into custody without incident. The deputies searched the driver incident to the arrest and located a bag of Methamphetamine.
Arrested is, Nathan Dermott Brooks, 29 years of age, Acworth, Ga. Brooks was later determined to have an escape warrant out of Bartow County for walking away from a work detail. Brooks is charged in Cherokee County for laying drag, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, attempting to elude, driving with a suspended license, no insurance, misdemeanor obstruction and possession of methamphetamine. Brooks also has warrants out of Cobb County. He is currently being held at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without a bond.
