Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. October 18, 2006 At approximately 3:00 pm, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a single vehicle located off the roadway on Old Highway 5 at the Pickens County Cherokee County line. The female driver, Deborah Padgett, 35 years of age of Jasper, Ga had been reported missing from Pickens County since earlier this morning. Ms. Padgett had left her house this morning on her way to Holly Springs to take her two children to the babysitter, when she did not arrive the family filed a missing persons report. Padgett was found dead at the scene of the crash. Her two children ages 4 years of age and 7 months old were air ambulanced to Scottish Rite with serious injuries.
The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the crash.
