Halloween Safety

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. October 20, 2006 - It is that time of year and Halloween is right around the corner. Sheriff Roger Garrison would like to remind the communities of some Halloween safety tips that will help ensure everyone has a safe night. Children will be in the neighborhoods trick or treating. Parents are asked to ensure their child’s safety by accompanying them while they trick or treat. There are times when motorists cannot see pedestrians on the street it is advised children wear bright colored costumes and carry a flashlight. Parents also need to remind children if a house does not have its lights turned on they may not want to approach for candy treats. Also, remind your children not to eat their candy until a parent has checked it for safe eating. Lastly, teach your child if they are approached by someone they do not know to run from the stranger and find an adult/parent to assist them and to call 911.
