Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. July 13, 2007-Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Corporal John J. Burns, was recognized by the Knights of Columbus of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Burns was named Knight of the Year for his dedication to the church and organization. Burns was awarded a plaque of appreciation by the Knights on June 23, 2007.
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men’s fraternal benefit society that was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. The organization offers aid and assistance to the sick, disabled, and needy. Most recently, the Knights of Columbus of St. Michael the Archangel Church presented the Cherokee Training Center in Canton, Ga with a $4,300 donation.
A nine year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, Corporal Burns has been a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church for nine years and has been a member of The Knights of Columbus for the last four years.
