Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. July 19, 2007-The Cherokee Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit has released information on the fatal accident that occurred yesterday on Knox Bridge Hwy. The driver of the the Mercedes involved in the accident was Sheryl Rainey, 40 years old of Canton. Ms. Rainey's 9-year old daughter was killed in the accident. Ms. Rainey is listed in critical but stable condition at Grady Hospital.
Preliminary indications are that weather conditions caused Ms. Rainey to loose control of her vehicle which crossed the center line and struck a dump truck driving in the other direction. Speed does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
