Firearms Competition

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. September 11, 2007-Five members of the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office competed in the Tennessee Tactical Officers Handgun Competition last week in Nashville, Tennessee. Approximately 20 officers from Tennessee and Georgia competed in four different events. Deputies representing the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office won 11 of the 14 medals awarded.

Deputy Patrick Neal won the “Top Gun” award which was the highest award given. Neal finished with 1 gold and 2 silver metals. Detective Pete Turcotte won 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal. Sgt. Jody Power was second overall and was awarded 1 gold and 2 bronze medals. Detective Buster Cushing was third overall and won 1 silver medal. Deputy Clifford Murray won 1 bronze medal.
