Sex Offender Monitoring

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. September 12, 2007-The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office has appointed Deputy Bob Post to monitor sex offenders in Cherokee County. Investigator Post will monitor the 127 registered sex offenders residing in Cherokee County, register new sex offenders, make field visits to their homes, and ensure that they comply with the law. In past years the responsibility of monitoring sex offenders was shared by detectives in the Crimes against Children Unit of the Criminal Investigations Division. Due to the complexity of the Georgia Sex Offender Law as well as the number of sex offenders in Cherokee County continuing to rise it became evident that it should be a full time position.
