Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. September 27, 2007- Cherokee Sheriff’s deputies responded to an 8 vehicle accident this morning at approximately 6:45 am on Highway 20 near the Cherokee and Bartow County line. One of the vehicles involved was a tractor trailer. One driver was transported by air-ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center and is listed in critical condition. Another person was transported by ambulance to Northside Cherokee Hospital with complaints of back pain. There were 2 other minor injuries reported.

All lanes of Highway 20 were shut down for approximately 2 hours. The road was completely re-opened at 10:00 am. No charges have been filed at this time. The accident is under investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.
