Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. October 4, 2007- Cherokee Sheriff’s deputies responded to a fatal accident this afternoon at approximately 3:10 pm on Knox Bridge Highway just west of Knox Bridge. The two car accident claimed the life of 17 year old Jonathan Pitner of Ball Ground, Georgia. The driver of the other vehicle, Tomeka Williams, 34 years old of Cartesville, Ga. received minor injuries and was transported to Kennestone Hospital. Preliminary indications are that speed caused Pitner to lose control of his vehicle and cross the center line into oncoming traffic. The incident is still under investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.
