Cherokee Sheriff's Office
Hubbard Arrest

Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. December 6, 2007- The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Crimes against Children Unit has just concluded an investigation involving a 31 year old suspect driving across the state and picking up a 13 year old Cherokee girl at her home and taking her to a Canton hotel for sex. In the early morning hours of December 1st, Corey Hubbard, 31 years old of Valdosta, arrived at a Cherokee county residence and picked up a thirteen year old girl at the end of her driveway. Hubbard then drove to the Days Inn in Canton. Just before entering the room the girl got scared and went to the manager’s office where 911 was called. The Canton Police Department and the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office responded to the hotel and Hubbard was arrested for Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes and Contributing to the Delinquincy of a Minor. Hubbard is currently being held in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $6,600.00 bond.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Hubbard had been communicating with the juvenile on “Myspace” for approximately 2 weeks. The juvenile told Hubbard online that she was 16 years old and provided her address and phone number to the suspect.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office urges parents to be aware of what their children are doing online. You can't be too “nosey” when it comes to children and the internet.
