Acworth, Cherokee County, Ga. December 21, 2007- Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes Unit have charged a Douglas County woman with numerous felonies against an 83 year old Cherokee County victim. Annette Ashley, 41 years old of Douglasville, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with Burglary, 9 counts of Identity Fraud, and Elder Abuse.

The victim had recently been injured and her family hired a caregiver that was an employee of a Cobb county business that specializes in in-home senior care. Ashley, who was working employed under the alias name of Sherry Stallworth, only worked for the victim one day. Shortly thereafter the victim realized that her checking and savings accounts had been compromised in an excess of $1,700.00.

Ashley is being held in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $30,500.00 bond.
