Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. July 25, 2008-The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office would like to warn citizens about an apparent scam artist that has been in Cherokee County recently and may still be in the area. The suspect calls himself Jim Morgan Finlayson. He is a white male in his thirties or forties. Mr. Finlayson recently contacted a Canton couple by phone and claimed he had not eaten. The couple met Mr. Finlayson at restaurant in Canton and bought him lunch and gave him cash. The couple later found out that Finlayson was as scam artist and often targets churches and ministries. Finlayson apparently travels the southeast and often tells people he is about to have one of his limbs amputated. If anyone has any contact with Finlayson they are urged to contact 911.
