Arrest: Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. September 19, 2008- Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office have arrested three individuals for offenses of Internet Crimes Against Children. The three month long undercover online investigation conducted by the CSO Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) culminated when the unit executed search warrants at three separate residences. Subsequently, three men were arrested for Child Sexual Exploitation related charges. Arrested were George Hutto, Stephen Haynes, and Jeffrey Hines. George Hutto, 45 years of age, was charged with ten counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children as a result of videos and images located on his computers. Hutto is being held in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $111,000.00 bond. Stephen Haynes, 42 years of age, was charged with twenty counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children as a result of videos and images located on his computer. Haynes is being held in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with no bond. Jeffrey Hines, 45 years of age, was charged with nine counts of Sexual exploitation of Children as a result of videos located on his computer. Hines is being held in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $99,000.00 bond. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is a cooperative member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). The ICAC Task Force program was created by the Department of Justice to help State and Local Law Enforcement agencies enhance their investigative response to offenders who use the Internet, online communications systems, or other computer technology to sexually exploit children. The program is currently composed of 59 regional Task Force agencies across the nation and is funded by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Georgia’s ICAC Regional Task Force is supervised by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. |
