Arrest: Identity Theft

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. September 19, 2008- At approximately 5:40pm Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a fraud at the Bells Ferry Wal-Mart in Woodstock. A loss prevention associate was informed that a black male identified as Henry R Farr was in the Electronics department using multiple credit cards to purchase gift cards. The sales associate, through in-store training became suspicious and compared the four digit numbers at the end of the credit card with the four numbers that were printing out on the receipt. The store associate realized the cards were fraudulent and alerted the store loss prevention security personnel.

Store loss prevention followed the trio out of the store into the parking area where they called 911 giving a description of the suspects. Responding Cherokee deputies observed and stopped the suspect vehicle at Bells Ferry Road at Robin Road . Responding officers and detectives conducted a more extensive investigation. During this investigation a total of 23 fraudulent credit cards and an additional number of fraudulent gift cards were found in possession of the suspects.

All suspects are charged at this time with 9 counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud and at this time are held in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with No Bond. More charges are pending.
