Canton, Cherokee County, Ga. January 3, 2008- Investigators with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office have arrested 4 people suspected of making prank phone calls and a bomb threat to the Cherokee County 911 Center. The prank calls began on December 23rd and culminated in a bomb threat made on December 30th. Over 15 calls were made to the center.

Dispatchers with 911 were able to triangulate and lead investigators to a location on Chrisler Street in Canton where the cell phone call was being made. Investigators were able to locate the cell phone, which had been destroyed by one of the suspects behind the residence.

Douglas Ray, 29 years old of Canton, was charged with 7 counts of Unlawful Conduct During a 911 Call and Tampering with Evidence. Ray has been released from the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on a bond.

A 13 year old male from Canton was charged with 2 counts of Unlawful Conduct During a 911 Call and released to a parent.

A 15 year old male from Canton was charged with 1 count of Unlawful Conduct During a 911 Call and released to a parent.

A 14 year old female from Canton, who is suspected of making the bomb threat, was charged with 1 count of Reckless Conduct, 1 count of Transmitting a False Public Alarm, 1 count of Terroristic Threats, 1 count of using Obscene or Abusive Language, 1 count of Requesting an Ambulance when not needed, and 6 counts of Unlawful Conduct During a 911 Call. The juvenile was taken into custody and is being held at the Paulding County Youth Detention Center.
