4 Arrests in Shooting

Acworth, Cherokee County, Ga. January 4, 2008- Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office have arrested 4 juveniles and 1 adult in connection with a drive-by shooting and multiple thefts from vehicles in the Acworth area this morning. The shooting, which occurred at approximately 1:20 am Friday morning occurred on Bells Ferry Rd. at it’s intersection with Kellogg Creek Rd. It is believed that a passenger in a gray Oldsmobile shot at another vehicle on Bells Ferry Rd. striking the vehicle 2 times.

Immediately following the shooting, the 5 suspects in the Oldsmobile drove to the Sable Trace subdivision off Woodstock Rd. and began stealing items from at least 5 vehicles in that neighborhood. A resident of the subdivision observed the activity and called 911 and gave a good description of the suspects and their vehicle. A deputy on patrol near the subdivision responded immediately and passed the suspect vehicle as it was trying to leave the subdivision. The Oldsmobile sped away after seeing the patrol car but other responding deputies were able to block the car in at the entrance to the subdivision.

Deputies located 2 GPS units, a garage door opener, sunglasses, cell phones, narcotics, and a 22 caliber pistol in the Oldsmobile.

While deputies were investigating the Sable Trace incident, another deputy was dispatched to a home where 2 individuals reported that someone in a Gray Oldsmobile had shot at them earlier in the evening on Bells Ferry Rd. at Kellogg Creek Rd.

Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Unit and Criminal Investigations were able to confirm that the two incidents were perpetrated by suspects in the Gray Oldsmobile.
