Deputy Helps Locate a Woman Involved in Accident 70 Miles Away

Woodstock, Cherokee County, Ga. March, 27 2008- A cell phone helps officers locate a woman involved in a serious accident. A Floyd county woman was located down a large embankment with her wrecked vehicle after a Cherokee county deputy took a missing persons report. The woman had been visiting her daughter in Cherokee County Saturday evening but after leaving her daughters house, she never made it to her Floyd county home. After taking the report from the daughter, Deputy Roger Smith thought to contact the missing woman’s cell phone provider. The cell phone company was able to provide a general location where the woman’s cell phone had last transmitted. The information was provided to Floyd county authorities who after searching all night long found the wreckage which could not be seen from the roadway. The woman was disoriented and injured in the accident but is expected to recover.
