Cherokee Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a traffic accident at 10:58am on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Bells Ferry Road and Eagle Drive. A Honda Civic, driven by Joanna Wagner, 19 years of age, of Acworth, was traveling south on Bells Ferry Rd turning left on Eagle Drive. A Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Daniel Zimmerman, 55 years of age, of Cartersville, was traveling northbound on Bells Ferry Rd. Preliminary indications show the Honda Civic turned left into the path of the motorcycle which resulted in an accident. Zimmerman was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is conducting the investigation into the cause of the accident.
UPDATE: Upon conclusion of the investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit the driver of the vehicle, Joanna Wagner, was arrested on June 12, 2018. Wagner was charged with Vehicular Homicide 2nd Degree and Failure to Yield Left Turn. Wagner was booked in and released on a bond of $2,211.
