Central Records Supervisor
This office maintains all incident and accident reports generated by the Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, all traffic citations are processed through this office and forwarded to the proper judicial courts.
Central records also provides copies of incident and accident reports to citizens upon request as required by the Georgia Open Records Act. Individuals who would like to obtain a copy of an incident or accident report should contact the Central Records Office during normal business hours. You may phone the request, with proper information to identify the incident or accident report (i.e. case number, date of incident, location), prior to coming in to pick up the report. State-issued identification must be shown before the report will be released. Copies of incident reports are available at a rate of $0.10 per page. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. §40-9-30, all motor vehicle accident reports carry a fee pf $5.00 per report.
Impounded vehicle releases can also be picked up in Central Records. When retrieving a towed vehicle, the following items are required:
– Current vehicle registration certificate or Title
– Valid driver’s license
– Proof of current, valid vehicle insurance
This office also processes state background checks. A criminal history release form must be filled out and signed prior to the release of this information. A criminal history report is available at the rate of $15.00.
